How commercial links support the site
Some Money no Sofá pages may contain affiliate or referral links. This page explains what that means and how we protect editorial independence.
Effective date: July 10, 2026. Last updated: August 31, 2026.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link contains a referral identifier. If a reader clicks it and completes a qualifying action—such as a purchase, registration or subscription—Money no Sofá may receive a commission or referral fee from the provider.
In most cases, the existence of an affiliate link does not change the price charged to the reader. Pricing, eligibility, availability and final terms are controlled by the third-party provider and may change.
Why we use affiliate relationships
Affiliate revenue may help pay for hosting, research, editing, design, tools, security and the continued production of accessible editorial content.
Our goal is to create a sustainable publication without turning every recommendation into a sales pitch. A commercial link should make sense within the article and offer a reasonable next step for readers who are already evaluating that product or service category.
Our editorial standard
Money no Sofá separates editorial judgment from commercial pressure. We do not accept payment in exchange for hidden promotion, guaranteed rankings, fabricated reviews or misleading claims.
Affiliate and sponsored articles must identify the author or responsible editorial team, be reviewed under Money no Sofá standards, and provide original analysis rather than reproducing merchant, marketplace or partner copy.
When a product, service or company has material limitations, risks or conditions relevant to the reader, those factors must not be concealed merely because a commercial relationship exists.
How disclosures appear
On pages containing affiliate links, a plain-language notice should appear before or close to the first commercial link. Paid collaborations should be labeled “Sponsored” or “Partner Content” prominently enough to be understood before the reader acts on the recommendation.
Commercial outbound links are qualified with rel="sponsored" or another appropriate attribute. A disclosure in the footer or on this policy page complements—but does not replace—the disclosure on the relevant article.
Sponsored content is different
Sponsored content involves direct compensation for a defined publication, campaign or collaboration. When applicable, it should be labeled with language such as “Sponsored”, “Partner Content” or another clear disclosure.
Affiliate compensation may depend on a reader action, while sponsored compensation may be agreed in advance. Both forms of relationship should be transparent.
Before acting on a recommendation
Compare alternatives, confirm the current price and conditions directly with the provider, review cancellation and refund rules, and consider whether the product is appropriate for your own financial situation.
For investments, credit, insurance, taxes, legal matters or other regulated decisions, seek qualified professional advice when appropriate.
